Nathan W. Pyle’s Strange Planet is a delightful collection of comics depicting mundane human activities that are wondrous and strange to the aliens of Strange Planet.
Huge thanks to William Morrow for gifting me this book!
The aliens of Strange Planet are just like us, facing the same problems and encountering the same emotions. There are a few differences, however – the aliens are much much more literal and, of course, they’re blue.
When one alien is gifted a potted plant, he wonders at the gift of an organism being relocated inside! The aliens love their pets, but sometimes don’t understand their motivations. They have different names for and ways of describing their interactions and encounters that bring a new way of considering our own day-to-day lives.
Strange Planet is a wonderfully fun and laugh-out-loud hilarious collection of comics from very talented Instagram artist @nathanwpyle / @nathanwpylestrangeplanet. The drawings are so cute, and the dialogue between the aliens is so thought-provoking, if only for the hysterically odd way in which they describe normal things, like saying “bless you” and dreaming.
If you’re a fan of Nathan, this is a must. If you’re a fan of comics, this is a must. If you’re a fan of laughing and the adorable, this is a must! I had a great time reading through these comics and will come back to this book often when I need a good laugh.
Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts on Strange Planet. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the book in the comments or at my Instagram, @bookmarkedbya!
